This is me
The most important journey you will take in your life will usually be the one of self-transformation. Often, this is the scariest because it requires the greatest changes in your life.
I am a strong believer that anything is possible if you really put your mind to it. All goals, no matter how big or small, start with taking that first step. I love helping clients overcome preconceived notions of what they can and cannot do ... small changes over time, lead to big accomplishments that can last a lifetime.
My own journey...
Fitness has always been a big part of my life. I played various sports throughout my childhood & adolescents, and went on to play D1 soccer in college. I always assumed that I would work with athletes, because that's what I always identified myself as. However, life has a funny way of leading you to exactly where you're supposed to be.
Through my adolescents and early 20's, I struggled with disordered eating which completely ran my life at times. When I reached my lowest point, I realized I needed to do something. That's when I changed college majors to Exercise Science and Health Promotion and learned everything I could at the time about nutrition and exercise. Slowly I dug myself out of my "dark hole" as I like to call it.
After college I became a Certified Personal Trainer, and that's when I realized that I could really impact people's lives in a positive way.
I tell clients all the time that "I get it", because I really do. I've been there, and I know what it feels like to feel uncomfortable in your own skin. When I think back on my own struggles with food, body image, and lack of confidence, I can remember how those negative thoughts had the ability to completely take over. However, I wouldn't change my experiences for anything, because having had those struggles has enabled me to connect better & become a more understanding & compassionate coach. I'm also a busy mom, who understands how difficult it can be to prioritize yourself, while also juggling a family, job, house, etc. Reaching your goals isn't always as simple as "calories in, calories out", and I value my ability to meet my clients where they are at, and together figuring out the best way to meet their individual goals. My life experiences have allowed me to become a better coach to my clients, and my hope for everyone I work with is that they can get to a place in their lives where they feel great in body & mind. If I can do it, you can too!
I feel passionately about empowering females to know their strength, and understand their bodies. After working in the fitness industry for a long time, I noticed an all too common theme of girls and women not believing in themselves, or feeling too intimidated to try new things. I started "Strong Like a Girl" : a strength training & sports performance program geared towards adolescent girls, and focused on proper body mechanics, explosive power, and increasing strength. I love working with clients of all ages and backgrounds, but being able to be a part of the growth I see in young female girls and athletes has brought me so much joy - it's truly something I am passionate about, and nothing makes me happier than being a part of someone realizing just how much they are capable of.

Everyone's goals are unique, and therefore there is no "one size fits all" approach. I have experience training a wide variety of individuals, but specialize in helping people with weight loss, and increasing quality of life through exercise and nutrition. I don't believe in the "no pain no gain" mentality, but rather insuring that we start at the appropriate level and integrate the most adequate training modalities to help you reach your goals. I love to set goals, and believe that the key to success is consistency; if you commit to a solid plan and progress in the right way, I promise you'll be amazed at what you can achieve. |
